Managed by the Melbourne Racing Club, Sandown Racecourse, located approximately 25 kilometres from the Melbourne CBD on the Princes Highway in the suburb of Springvale in the City of Greater Dandenong.
Sandown is the only thoroughbred racecourse in Australia with two race tracks. In 2001 the Club built a second track, Hillside, around the outside of the existing Sandown Lakeside track.
At Sandown racecourse there is year round thoroughbred racing action and there is also a wide range of motor racing events on the motor racing track that surrounds the racecourse.
The racing surface at Sandown is widely recognised by industry and punters alike as one of the best in Australia, with both racetracks featuring wide turns and front straights, and a gradual rise from the 200m mark to the finishing post, every runner gets a chance.
The feature raceday at Sandown Racecourse is the running of the Sandown Cup
